SAFARI 'S' 'M'... can you hear it echoing?
SAFARISM; an acronym for SAFARI Sales & Marketing was born during the April lockdown of 2020. With our active minds working overtime, encouraged by the odd glass of in-stock wine, and inspired by the breath-taking panoramic view from the Khaya Ndlovu Manor House deck in Hoedspruit, we concluded that there was an urgent need for a locally based, boots on the ground, safari sales and marketing agency; hence SAFARISM was born.
Soon after our initial discussions and planning had begun, the SAFARISM team received the news that the Thornybush Collection was reducing the number of lodges in their portfolio and there was a possibility that the exclusive boutique River Lodge would become independent, thus requiring marketing, sales, and reservations.
After a slick presentation to the River Lodge ‘dagga-boys,’ shareholders: GT Ferreira, Peter Hobbs, and Trevor Jordan, SAFARISM was awarded full responsibility of the role of marketing, sales, and reservations.
Assuming this role during the international travel ban in the optimistic hope that life would return to the pre-Covid normal was an ambitious venture. In four short months, however, the SAFARISM team has risen admirably to the challenge with the 2019/2020 comparative monthly occupancies of the Thornybush River Lodge, more than doubling.
THORNYBUSH RIVER LODGE
"You set off a dream in me!"
The luxury and exclusive Thornybush River Lodge hugs the banks of the Timbavati River where visiting elephants drinking from the signature rim-flow swimming pool are welcomed as regular guests. The beautifully appointed, intimate lodge has just 12 beds, including the option of an exclusive 4-sleeper breakaway villa.
Guests can expect warm and friendly service and will never forget the scrumptious cuisine prepared by accomplished resident chef, Prince. Excellent Big-5 game viewing is guaranteed whilst traversing the private Thornybush Nature Reserve which forms part of the Kruger National Park.
KHAYA NDLOVU MANOR HOUSE
"If I have ever seen magic, it has been in Africa!"
As SAFARISM drew her first breath on the deck of the Khaya Ndlovu Manor House, there was never any doubt that the magnificent home-away-from-home Manor House would be our debut property.
The child-friendly 22-bed lodge is situated in the Rietspruit Big Game Reserve, surrounded by nature, yet a stone’s throw away from the busy tourist hub, Hoedspruit, the gateway to the Greater Kruger area. Overlooking the splendour of the famous Blyde River Canyon, the Khaya Ndlovu alfresco dining area offers an idyllic setting from which to enjoy a meal, sundowner, or spa treatment. It is perfectly situated to explore all the wonders of the Lowveld, a romantic break, or a family vacation.
Non-residents may join a Khaya Ndlovu game-drive, where guests may be lucky enough to see the ‘Famous Five’ – the poaching victims that were rescued as young rhino calves, rehabilitated, and released from Rhino Revolution’s orphanage.
Bucket the lioness’s nursery forays were well-documented and she is another celebrated character who often thrills our guests on a game drive.
She is photographed here, loving her brother BB. You can read more about her on the Khaya Ndlovu Manor House website; Bucket, Brent & the boys!
